Position: Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook / Dishwasher

Reports to: Chef/Lead Cook/Food & Beverage Director

Classification: Seasonal, Part Time or Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

Salary Range: D.O.E.



  • Possess an approved and accredited safe food handling certification as required per California Retail Code section 113947.1.
  • Possess current certification from ServSafe or similarly approved sanitation and safety program.
  • 2 years minimum experience in restaurant food preparation
  • Understanding of restaurant/cafe operational procedures
  • Able to work varying shifts, weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Able to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment
  • Able to give direction and work in team environment
  • Valid Drivers License and reliable transportation


  • Overall kitchen responsibility
  • Trains cooks and kitchen assistants
  • Oversees all cooking and preparation by staff, participates if necessary
  • Assists with menu planning
  • Purchases supplies and equipment with direction
  • Maintains clean and orderly cook station, following sanitation and food preparation guidelines
  • Reports all low par inventory/supply level issues to supervisor
  • Notifies supervisor immediately any time a guest is not 100% satisfied with their experience
  • Adheres to Company dress code while on duty.
  • Manages down time by cleaning, restocking, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

The Chef/Lead Cook will use various equipment on a daily basis. Footwear required shall be a high quality closed toe shoe with non-skid sole providing ankle support. No open toe sandals or flip flops will be allowed on the job. Kitchen personnel are required to wear long pants and hair restraints in preparation functions. The Chef/Lead Cook will be knowledgeable in the safety practices and standards set by the Company, relative to the work environment he/she operates in. He/she will also make it a duty to assure that all co-workers are working with those same safety practices and standards.
